5 Styling Products to Air-Dry Thin, Fine Hair

Fine hair is unlike any other hair type that we see online. Most of what we see on TikTok and Instagram are hair tutorials of people with beautiful, thick, healthy hair that seems to never frizz and is so easy to style. But not everyone has that amount of hair, and some of us really struggle to make our hair shiny and smooth without weighing it down with product.

I have fine, thin hair myself and in this video I’m sharing the 5 styling products that have worked for myself and my clients in the salon. These are products that work when you let your hair air-dry naturally (hello, summer).

Before we style our hair, though, we have to cleanse and condition. Skipping this step and using whatever is on sale is not okay. I love using New Wash on my fine, limp hair to give it all the volume and moisture. Shampoo strips hair of its natural oils and leaves it dry and damaged over time. I use New Wash in the  Original formula for literally the healthiest hair of my life.

  1. Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray

This is a really nice no-color cousin of dry shampoo. It gives fine hair a nice grit at the roots where all you need to do is just jujj up your hair in the morning and you’re good to go.

2. R+Co Turntable Curl Defining Creme

For curly and wavy haired folks, this cream is a dream! Apply an even, generous amount all over your hair while damp, separate the curls and watch them air-dry into silky, frizz-free coils.

3. ColorWow Dreamcoat for Curly Hair

This is one of the most underrated products for fine hair. It’s not heat-activated like it’s sister, the infamous Dreamcoat from ColorWow. This one is made specifically to help air dry fine, wavy hair without weighing it down. The consistency is watery so you don’t have to worry about it being sticky or greasy.

4. Kevin Murphy Leave-In Repair

Also an underrated product. This one helps put protein back into the hair that’s lost its’ strength while also conditioning and taming frizz. It’s a little heavier than ColorWow and Turntable. It can be used for styling on dry hair or as a leave-in on damp hair. I love using it to repair my damaged ends.

5. R+Co Foil Frizz & Static Control Spray

Another winner from R+Co is this amazing shine spray that gives your hair a soft gloss-like finish without weighing it down. It’s not an oil type of spray but more of a light dry oil sheen. It gives the most beautiful finish to your hair and it smells divine.
